Sunday was a nice warm day and I started off in the morning by going to Meyer's department store to return 2 shirts I bought. I decided that even though they weren't expensive, the quality was quite cheap and they weren't worth the $6 that I paid for them.
After Myer I went to my disasterous lunch at Sky Phoenix (next time I want dim sum, I stick to Chinatown in New York City). After lunch got a cup of coffee at Gloria Jeans and I selected what is called a "long black" with milk which I think is like a watered espresso or what Starbucks calls an "Americano". Did you know that Gloria Jeans is a 100% owned Australian company? Well I hate their coffee in the USA, but here it's much better.
Anyway, onward to the Circular Quay ferry.... It's a nice day so I take the ferry to the Taronga Zoo which is acroos the Harbour. The ferry ride to Taronga Zoo is very fast and a great ride with amazing views of Sydney along the way.
The admission to the Zoo is a steep $27 (US$21.60). I have found that most admissions in Australia are actually quite steep. I also find it hard to believe I get to go through the entire zoo for $27 and the day before I paid $22 just to go to the top of the stupid Sydney Tower for 15 minutes.
Regardless the zoo was a good experience. The grounds are very natural with random paths which lead around to animals in their natural habitats. There are a few locations such as the elephants and lions which didn't sem to have such nice quarters. I loved seeing the koalas and the kangaroos. To see the kangaroos you walk right into their cage on a path. They were all mostly sleeping in the sun and I guess they really don't care that anyone is walking through their home.
In addition to the wanderings there is also a nice and informative Australian bird show which happens a few times through the day.
The park has a lot of food and even a food court with a variety of food from across the world. it is also nice that there are plenty of picnic tables for people who bring their own food along.
It was a nice trip and I spent about 2 hours at the park. Afterward I got the very crowded ferry back to Sydney and relaxed a bit before heading out for dinner.

Yeah, that is a little steep. I'm thinking we should get the smartvisit card, which are $115 for for three days and gets you in free to almost everything. I don't think it would take many sites to make that worthwhile.
