Eric was right. Australia is expensive.
My first hit of reality was when I popped into a 7-eleven and checked the prices.
Bottle of Coke - AU$2.80 (US$2.18) Bottle of Water - AU$2.25 (US$1.75) Candy Bar - AU$2.00 (US$1.60) Starbucks Tall Coffee - AU$2.40 (US$1.92)
Is the US dollar so worthless? I guess I have to appreciate that I can get that same bottle of Coke for about $1.00.
I also stopped into a few shops and the price of clothing is untouchable.
Oddly enough I am only paying US$112 a night for an "upmarket" 3 star hotel.
Speaking of Starbucks, it is now 3pm here and as I predicted, I have formally and oficially become "the walking dead". I have an overwhelming feeling that I want to go to my hotel room and lay down. That would be the kiss of death so I have to stay mobile and stay awake. That's why I'm in a Starbucks right now having a coffee with an added shot of espresso.
It's also good to know that Starbucks suck, no matter what city you are in. The big difference here is that when it sucks, it costs you more (Grande Caramel Macchiato AU$5.10)
I have to go now, a very large Asian family has surrounded me and I really don't feel like I belong!

Thanks for the credit!

Hey Richard, just letting you know I'm along for the ride. I have no idea how I'm going to sleep in coach when we go. By the way, I loved Mamma Mia when I saw it in Philadelphia. Hope you're feeling more rested now.
