I need a fast lunch before I go off to the zoo so I decided to try the Sky Phoenix since the Sydney Eats bok says it's the "very best" yum cha (dim sum) in the city.
At first entry service is a bit slower than I have come to expect from a dim sum restaurant. Quite often, once you are seated you are immediately bombarded with cart after cart of steamed and fried specialties.
As I wait at my seat I get about three plates of food and none of the ladies with carts seem to come my way so, frustrated, I ask for my check.
The dim sum at Sky Phoenix was actually very good, what little I got. I also noticed that it all wasn't very hot.
One thing I cannot tolerate is bad service. So far both Chinese restaurants I visited in Australia had very bad service. In fact both treated you like you were a bother. The ladies pushing around the carts at Sky Phoenix seems numb to their surrounding not noticing that people have arrived to pay their salary by eating their tid bits. I guess whether you are in New York, San Francisci or Sydney, the standard of bad service in a Chinese restaurant is the norm.
To top it all off I only got three plates of dim sum and my bill was an astonishing $18 (US$14.40).
Food at Sky Phoenix could be good if it was hot but they need more work in the service department.
Guess what I rate this place?

At the Marigold you get bombared with food before you have even taken your seat. The food is ok. I love steamed greens with oyster sauce. But it is full on yum cha atmosphere. Near Chinatown, upstairs on George St.
