Before I leave Australia I had to try an Aussie Burger. I haven't really seen many places serving it but as I was wandering through the streets of Manly Beach I came across this place called Phast Phuel. I guess it's sort of like Australia's "In and Out" burger.
So what's an Aussie Burger? Well I don't know if it's authentic, but at Phast Phuel it's a BBQ marinated all beef patty with grilled onions, a slice of beet, BBQ sauce, tomato, mixed greens and mayo on a sesame seed bun. I have to say it was delicious, especially the slice of beet.
Phast Phuel offers a meal deal where you get the burger, fries and a drink (water or juice, no Coca-Cola here) all for only
$9.95 (US$8). That's a really good deal! You can get you meal to stay but seating is very limited (10 seats) so you might want to get your food to "take away" and eat it at the nearby beach.
Phast Phuel also served chicken burgers and veggie burgers.
Food here is a 3++ which you can tell by the crowds waiting for their burger. I would say the price/value is at least a rating of 4.

Hi !
Just stumbled upon your blog - was interesting to read your take on sydney. One good place for burgers that I would recommend you try, if you ever return to sydney, is Burgerman at bondi. Also, the thing that makes an aussie burger, aussie, is the beetroot - tinned beetroot, of course :)
