I just came from Malaya restaurant on the other end of the wharf and because they didn't have any desserts I was left with an empty feeling.
I headed over to Blackbird which is on my short list of restaurants to try while I am here. Blackbird is somewhat of a modern "diner" type restaurant serving pastas, pizza, huge salads and other simple and homey comfort foods. They also have a number of yummy desserts like cheesecake, chocolate cake and lemon meringue pie.
I don't select and of the above even though I came for the lemon meringue pie. Instead I get the sticky date pudding which is a gooey wet date cake served with a butterscotch topping and whipped cream. Yummmy and well wortht he price but I still have to try that lemon meringue pie!
Service here is fast, casual and friendly and the setting is on an open balcony looking over Darling Harbour. The restaurant is a "good times" type of place which means you get loud music and noisy patrons all have a good time.
Desserts are all $8 (US$6.40) and a pot of tea is $3.50 (US$2.80).
